Vogt Becomes the First KSC Player to be Named to the NECBL All-star Game

KEENE, N.H. 7/13/2010 – Keene State College relief pitcher Corey Vogt (Suffield, Conn.) is the first player in school history to be named to the NECBL All-Star game as voted on by the coaches in the league.

“Corey has done really well for the North Adams Steeple Cats,” said KSC head coach Ken Howe. “Obviously the other coaches in the league have noticed his talent and for him to be the first KSC player to be named to the team is a great accomplishment for his young career.”

Vogt has made 13 appearances for the Steeple Cats, pitching in twelve innings with an ERA of 0.75 and a 2-0 record. He has also only allowed three hits and struck out 21 batters on the season for North Adams who is in second place by a half game behind the Danbury Westerners in the West Division.

For the Owls, Vogt led the team in appearances (17), opponents batting average (.171) and tied for the team lead in saves (5). In 25.2 innings for KSC, the junior had 32 strikeouts and finished the season on a 14.1 scoreless innings streak over his final 11 appearances.

The 17th annual all-star game will be played at Cardines Field in Newport, R.I. on July 18th at 6:35 pm.
