Testo and Moylan to coach NECBL All-Stars
KEENE, N.H. 7/15/09 - A pair of Keene State Coaches will be on the bench at the New England Collegiate League All-Star Game at MacKenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Mass., on Saturday.
Keene State Associate Head Coach and Swamp Bat Head Coach Marty Testo will be at the helm of the Western Division all-stars while Dan Moylan, an Owl and Swamp Bat assistant, will join him on the bench.
"With the job Marty has done for the franchise, it's nice to see him get a little recognition," Swamp Bat president Kevin Watterson told the Keene Sentinel. "He's very deserving of it."
Testo and Moylan, along with KSC Head Coach Ken Howe, have been instrumental in leading the Owls to a back-to-back NCAA tournament berths in 2007 and 2008. Testo, who is in his second season as the Swamp Bats coach, has posted a winning of .582 (42-30) during his tenure in the NECBL.
The top coaches in each division following the games of July 10 are chosen to lead the All-Star teams. "Marty is a guy who players like to play for, he understands the challenge of collegiate summer baseball," Watterson said. "He knows how to make it fun, while also making sure the guys bring energy to the park each night. He never panics, and that's what I love about him."
Six of Testo's players have been selected to play in the All-Star game.
