Owls place four on ECAC spring ECAC all-star teams

KEENE, N.H. 5/27/09 - Keene State College placed four players on ECAC New England Spring All-Star teams announced on Wednesday.

In baseball honors, freshman Cody Callahan (Seekonk, Mass.) was named rookie of the year while sophomore Bobby Doyon (Keene, N.H.) and senior Jeff Perkins (Dunbarton, N.H.) were first and second team selections respectively. 

Senior Jenna Patnode (Surry, N.H.) was a first-team pick on the ECAC softball team.

Callahan made an immediate impact in the Keene State lineup, hitting a team-high .455 with nine home runs and 52 RBIs.  He hit safely in 32 of his 38 games, including registering multiple knocks 18 times.

Doyon led the Owls in several offensive categories including hits (73), doubles (22), home runs (13) and RBIs (73) to go with his .435 batting average. His 73 RBIs and 22 doubles are KSC season record while his 13 round-trippers tie the school mark.

Perkins was a catalyst as the team's starting centerfielder and lead-off hitter.  In the LEC, he was tied for first in triples (6), fourth in hits (57), and third in hitting (.453).  He had at least one hit in 35 out of 41 games and 22 multi-hit contests.

Patnode topped the Owls in several offensive categories, including batting (.423), runs (47), hits (63), and stolen bases (47).  Her 47 stolen bases is an Owl season record.  Playing both centerfield and third base, Patnode holds career mark in hits (206) and runs (165) and is tied for the all-time record in stolen bases (99).
