Doyon Named ECAC Rookie of the Year

Bobby Doyon was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year
KEENE, N.H. 6/18/08 - Keene State's Bobby Doyon has been named ECAC Division III New England Baseball Rookie of the Year. He was among six Owls selected to Spring All-ECAC teams on Wednesday.
Doyon, a freshman outfielder from Keene, had an outstanding first season for the Owls. He batted a team high .408 with six home runs and 55 RBIs.
"It's a nice honor,' said Doyon, who also named to the ECAC second team. "I had a good idea what to expect during my first season, but I exceeded my expectations."
Doyon said he is hitting the weight room this summer and is looking forward to next season. "I'd like to come back a little bit stronger, so I don't get worn down," he said.
Senior third baseman Joe Rousseau and outfiedler Greg Ford joined Doyon on the team. A first-team selection, Rousseau, a Nashua, N.H., native, batted .405 with 35 RBIs. Picked o the second team, Ford batted .333 with 13 home runs and 58 RBIs. The Nashua native set the KSC career home run record (27) this season.
Juniors Jenna Patnode (Surry, N.H.) and Katie Allenson (Clifton Park, N.Y.) were named to the second team All-ECAC softball squad. Patnode, who split time between third and centerfield for the Owls, was picked to the team at the utility position. She collected a record 64 hits this season on the way to posting a .398 average. Allenson, who saw time at third and at designated player, hit a team high .477 with nine home runs and 42 RBIs.
Tony Santa Fe was the lone Owl on the All-ECAC men's lacrosse team. Named to the second team, the junior attack from Derry, N.H., led Keene State with 32 goals, 24 assists, and 56 points.
