Chevalier Named to All-New England Baseball Team
KEENE, N.H., 5/21/07 - Keene State College's James Chevalier
(Amherst, New Hampshire) has been named to the 2007 Division III
All-New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA)
team. Chevalier also joins teammates Beau Darak (Londonderry,
New Hampshire) and Mike Cook (Dover, Massachusetts) on the New
England Regional All-Tournament team.
Chevalier, a sophomore second baseman, was a second-team
selection to the NEIBA squad. He led the Owls in hitting
(.365), scored 33 runs, belted three home runs, and had 23
RBIs. Chevalier was a key performer for KSC in the NCAA
Regional baseball tournament. In addition to hitting a home run and
driving in four runs at the plate, he also picked up a pitching win
in relief against Curry College.
A freshman first baseman, Darak batted .350 in the tournament
with a home run and five RBIs. He also had a two-run double
in the championship round against Eastern Connecticut State
University.
Cook came out of the bullpen to notch two saves against top-seed
Wheaton College (WC) in the tournament. He tossed two innings
of one-hit ball in the Owls' 6-3 win over the Lyons on Thursday and
came back to pitch another strong two-inning stint of one-hit ball
with three strikeouts against WC on Saturday night.
Keene State (32-15) made its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance this season.
