Baseball: Owls Top Panthers 8-3
PLYMOUTH, N.H. 4/22/07 - The Keene State College baseball
team collected 10 hits and took advantage of five Panther errors to
post a 8-3 Little East Conference win over rival Plymouth State on
Sunday. The game was moved to Plymouth due to unplayable
field conditions at Owl Athletic Complex.
It was Keene State's second win over PSU in three days.
The Owls defeated the Panthers by the same score at
Merchantsauto.com Stadium in Manchester on Friday.
The Owls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on a pair
of PSC errors, a fielder's choice, and RBI single by Beau Darak
(Londonderry, N.H.).
KSC added one more run in the second. Ben Fournier (Center Harbor, N.H.) singled, stole second and came around to score on an error. Darak had an RBI single in the fifth and KSC plated two more runs in the sixth.
Joe Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.), Fournier, and Darak finished the
game with two hits each.
Jon Young (Rindge, N.H.) pitched 5 2/3 innings to improve his record to 2-1. He gave up two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Kevin Binney (Hopedale, Mass.), Dan Martin (Cromwell, Conn.), and Andy Wardwell (Belmont, N.H.) also saw action on the mound.
Winners of 11 of 13, KSC (20-9, 7-1 LEC) records its sixth 20-win or better season since joining Division III in 1998. The Owls will look to play its first home games of the season when they host Western Connecticut on Tuesday (12 p.m.).
Plymouth State, which has dropped four straight, travels to Lyndon
State on Monday (2 p.m.).
