Owls Baseball Overtakes Plymouth State 11-10

College scored five runs with two out in the bottom of the eighth
inning to post a dramatic come-from-behind 11-10 victory over rival
Plymouth State in a Little East Conference baseball game played in
Keene on Tuesday. Trailing 10-5 going into the bottom of the eighth, the Owls erupted for five runs on six hits. Following RBI hits from Ben Tyer (Lee, MA.), John Trubiano (Keene, NH) , and Justin Hickman (Mont Vernon, NH), Mike MAeur (Warwick, RI) singled to left to score Hickman with the tying run and Kelly Charbono (Enfield, NH) knocked in MAeur with the go-ahead run with his double to left center. The Panthers scored five runs in the second inning on the way to building a 10-2 lead after four and a half innings. Matt Price (Epping, NH) and Jay Zinis (Manchester, NH) had three hits each while Robbie Burr (Concord, NH) cracked his fifth home run of the season for PSC. Scot Hodsdon (Somersworth, NH) along with Zinis and Burr each finished with two RBIs. Trubiano and Hickman led KSC's 19 hit attack with four hits each. Hickman, who cracked his first home run of the season, a two run shot in the fifth inning, also finished with four RBIs in the game. James Slack (Manchester, NH) in relief of starter Corey Hartson (Merrimack, NH) picked up the win for the Owls. Slack (2-1) pitched 5.2 innings giving up four runs and striking out six. Buzzy Francis (Bedford, NH) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to notch the save. Nate Provencher (Wilton NH) (1-3) who took over for PSC starter Owen Burke (Sanborton, NH) in the seventh, took the loss. It was the sixth win in the last seven games for Keene State (12-9, 3-2 LEC). Plymouth State falls to 6-12, (0-5 LEC). Keene State will be at Franklin Pierce College on Wednesday (3:30 p.m.). Plymouth State returns home to face New England College in a twinbill. |
