Girard and Senecal Earn Athlete of the Week Honors

Returning to the team after a year absence, Girard helped the Owl start their season with a 3-1 record. The junior hitter from Red Hook, N.Y. led KSC in kills (37) and digs (80) in its first four matches of the season to go along with a .146 hitting pct., seven service aces, and six blocks.  She had 13 kills, three service aces, and 15 digs, as the Owls opened their season with a 3-1 win over Colby-Sawyer.  Girard followed that up with a 14 kill, 22 dig, two block performance against MIT at the Gordon College Invitational.  Girard was named to the All-Tournament team.

 

Joe Senecal

Senecal began his season by tallying three goals and an assist, leading the Keene State men’s soccer team to a 3-0 record.  The sophomore striker from Manchaug, Mass. scored a goal in the Owls’ season opening 3-1 win over New England College.  Playing in the XARA tournament this past weekend, the sophomore striker netted two goals, including the game winner in  a 3-2 overtime win against Kean (N.J.) University, and notched an assist on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Fitchburg State.  Senecal was selected as the offensive MVP of the tournament.
