Women's soccer team holds Homecoming alumni game

The numbers were few and the field was cut in half, but that didn’t deter the alumni members of the Keene State College women’s soccer team from having a good time during their Homecoming alumni game last Saturday.

“It’s so nice to be on the field with so many girls that I played with during my days at Keene State,” said Katie Stevens.  “It’s a slower pace, but we earned that.”

“I will never forget this field and the fans that came out to see us,” said Ali Corso.

“It’s great to be back on the field I have so many memories from playing here,” said Michelle Boland, now in graduate school at Springfield College.  “It’s great seeing everyone.”

“I haven’t seen many of my teammates in several years, so it’s nice to catch-up,” said Sarah Miller.  “I had a great four years at Keene State.”

The length of the field was just fine as far as Tara Wagner was concerned.  “We don’t have enough players and I’m a little out of shape,” she said.  “I miss playing. I think about it all the time.

Former Owl Jana Berthiaume is a frequent visitor to the Complex, watching her sister Jessica playing for the current Owl team.  “I’m proud of my sister.  I taught her everything she knows, said the older Berthiaume with a laugh.  “The team is doing very well and it’s fun to watch them play.”

“They’re all having a good time,” so that’s the most important thing,” said KSC Coach Denise Lyons. “Hopefully, we’ll have more players next time and we’ll make it an annual event.”
