Eight Owls Earn LEC Honors
KEENE, N.H. 4/21/08 - The following eight Keene State athletes have been recognized by the Little East Conference for their performances in their respective sports on Monday.
BASEBALL
Co-Players of the

Ryan Jones (Nashua, N.H.), Senior, Shortstop, Keene State
College
Jones paced the Keene State College attack this past week, hitting
.476 (10-for-21) from the plate with two doubles, two triples, and
a grand slam home run. The senior shortstop from Nashua, N.H. hit
safely in all five games, including three multiple knock contests.
On April 19, Jones drove in a week-high four runs against UMass
Boston, belting a grand slam in the fourth inning of the nightcap.
Pitcher of the
Week
Jamie Morin (Goffstown, N.H.), Senior, Keene State College
In his only start of the week, Morin led Keene State College to a Little East Conference victory over UMass Boston on April 19. The senior from Goffstown, N.H. allowed a lone earned run on five hits, while striking out six in seven in two-thirds innings of work. Morin held his opposition scoreless in six of his seven frames to collect his third win of the campaign.
SOFTBALL
Player of the
Week
Jenna Patnode (Surry, N.H.), Junior, Third
Base, Keene State College
Patnode batted .548 (23-for-42) from the lead-off spot to help
Keene State College to a 7-3 week. The Surry, N.H. product hit
safely nine of the 10 games, including a five-for-five showing from
the plate against New England College. Patnode collected 12
extra-base hits, on eight doubles, two triples, and a pair of home
runs, while driving in 11 RBI.
Pitcher of the
Week
Ashlee Nicholson (Swanzey, N.H.), Senior, Pitcher, Keene State
College
Nicholson tied the Keene State College career win record this
past week, earning her 46 career victory against Eastern
Connecticut State University on April 20. For the week, she posted
a 5-1 record with a 1.47 ERA in 38 innings. Nicholson allowed just
eight earned runs and a walk, while striking out 33. She hurled a
complete-game five hitter against Plymouth State University,
fanning 10 without issuing a walk.
Women's Lacrosse
Rookie of the
Week
Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), Freshman, Attack,
Keene State College
Kirk tallied 10 goals and two assists for 12 points in three Keene
State College games. The Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. product
scored a week-high four goals against Smith College, while netting
a hat trick against Eastern Connecticut State University and
Colby-Sawyer College. She has recorded at least one point in all 13
contests on the campaign, including at least four points in her
past six games.

Field Athlete of the Week
Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.), Senior, Keene State
College
Blamy was victorious in the high jump event at the Springfield
College Invitational this past weekend. The Walpole, N.H. product
cleared 1.60 meters to take home top honors.
Field Athlete of the Week
Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State
College
Brown captured the shot put title at the Springfield College
Invitational this past week with a toss of 11.81 meters.
Men's Outdoor Track
Rookie Athlete of the Week
Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.), Freshman, Keene State College
MacKnight won the 5,000 meter race at the Springfield College Invitational, crossing the finish line with a time of 15:26.05.
