Eight Owls Earn LEC Honors
The following Keene State College athletes were received Little East Conference honors in their respective sports this week:
Baseball
Player of the
WeeK
Anthony Cipolla (Glastonbury, Conn.), Sophomore, Catcher, Keene
State College
Cipolla paced the Keene State College attack with a .480 batting
average as the Owls' posted a 5-1 mark on the week. The
Glastonbury, Conn. native went 12-for-25 from the plate with three
doubles and five RBI, while also scoring five runs. Cipolla hit
safely in five of his six contests, including a 7-for-10 stretch
during a Little East Conference doubleheader sweep of Western
Connecticut State University.
Co-Pitchers of
the Week
Jamie Morin (Goffstown, N.H.), Senior, Keene State
College
In his lone appearance of the week, Morin hurled a complete-game
shutout over Western Connecticut. The Goffstown, N.H. product
fanned nine batters and did not issue a walk, while scattering four
hits (all singles). Morin faced just two batters over the minimum
to earn his second victory of the season.

Offensive Player of the Week
Tony Santa Fe (Derry, N.H.), Junior, Attack, Keene State College
Santa Fe led Keene State College to a pair of Little East Conference victories this past week, scoring 11 points on seven goals and four assists. The Derry, N.H. product turned in a balance six-point scoring effort against intra-state rival Plymouth State, netting three markers and dishing out three helpers, while finding the back of the net four times against Western Connecticut.
Defensive Player of the Week
Matt Johnson (Derry, N.H.), Senior, Goalie, Keene State College
Johnson backstopped Keene State College to two Little East Conference wins this past week, owning a 5.24 goals against average and a .744 save percentage. On April 12, the Derry, N.H. native made a season-high 20 saves at conference foe Western Connecticut, while turning back nine offerings two days earlier against Plymouth State University. Johnson sits atop the Little East Conference standings in save percentage (.688) and wins (7), while ranking fourth in goals against average (5.98).

Rookie of the
Week
Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), Freshman, Attack,
Keene State College
Kirk averaged five points per game in three Keene State College
Little East Conference victories this past week, netting 12 goals
and dishing out three assists. The freshman from Port Jefferson
Station, N.Y. scored a season-high seven points, including a
season-best six markers, against Plymouth State University. Kirk
turned in four points each against Rhode Island College and Western
Connecticut State University, highlighted by four goals against the
Colonials.

Rookie
Field Athlete of the Week
Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.), Freshman, Keene
State College
Competing at the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell on
Saturday, Kolacz posted a provisional NCAA Championships and KSC
record mark with his second place finish (171'-07") in the hammer
throw. He also won the discus (137'-11") and placed seventh in the
shot-put (40'-04.75").
Women's Track
Track Athlete of the Week
Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Senior,
Keene State College
Adams easily coasted to the 3,000 meters title this past weekend at
the George Davis Invitational, covering the course in a time of
10.09.05. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y. product was never challenged
in the event, defeating her closest competitor by nearly 15
seconds.
Field Athlete of the Week
Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.), Junior, Keene State
College
Hirsh posted an NCAA Division III Championship provisional
qualifying mark and established a new Keene State College record
with her first place javelin toss of 132'-09" at the George Davis
invitational at UMass Lowell. The native of Holliston, Mass. also
set the UMass Lowell meet and facility record with her toss,
becoming the only student-athlete to alter the meet and facility
record books on the afternoon.
