Possessing a solid background in athletic administration, Ratliff has used his experience and enthusiasm to stimulate interest and improve the visibility of the program not only on campus and in the community but on a regional and national level as well. He has been instrumental in the growth of the program, which has included better academic performance of student athletes, improved facilities, and the addition of men’s and women’s lacrosse teams. Keene State teams have also excelled on the field during his tenure. Since joining Division III in 1997-98, Keene State has had unprecedented success in the Little East Conference, capturing 12 consecutive Commissioner's Cups, receiving the 2005 ECAC Jostens Institution of the Year award, and consistently being recognized as the top public Division III athletic program in the NACDA rankings.

Prior to arriving at Keene State, Ratliff, who has a master’s degree in athletic administration from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Davidson College, served as the director of athletics at the University of North Florida for four years. With extensive background in issues of compliance, eligibility, and gender equity, along with knowledge in the areas of marketing and promotion, John Ratliff has been a strong advocate for KSC’s student athletes. He looks forward to the continued growth and success of the program at all levels of competition.
